When inspection, topping off, or replacement of the Automatic Transmission Fluid is required for your Nissan Frontier, it is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service. Proper ATF selection and service procedures are essential for smooth shifting, transmission cooling, and long-term drivetrain durability.
CAUTION
Damage caused by using fluids other than those recommended by NISSAN is not covered under the NISSAN New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Power Steering Fluid (PSF)
Check the Nissan Frontier power steering fluid level only when the engine is stopped.
The fluid level should be between the COLD MAX and COLD MIN lines on the power steering fluid reservoir when the fluid temperature is cold, approximately 32º - 86ºF (0º - 30ºC). When the fluid is hot, approximately 122º - 176ºF (50º - 80ºC), the level should be at the HOT MAX line on the reservoir.
If the fluid is cold and the level is at or below the COLD MIN line, add Genuine NISSAN PSF-II or an equivalent fluid up to the COLD MAX line. If the fluid is hot and below the HOT MAX line, add Genuine NISSAN PSF-II or equivalent up to the HOT MAX line. Remove the reservoir cap and fill carefully through the opening.
Maintaining the correct power steering fluid level helps preserve steering assist performance and prevents unnecessary wear in the Nissan Frontier steering system.
