Do not allow battery fluid to contact your skin, eyes, clothing, fabrics, or painted vehicle surfaces.

Battery fluid contains sulfuric acid, which can cause severe burns or blindness. After handling the battery or battery cap, do not touch or rub your eyes. Wash your hands thoroughly. If acid contacts your eyes, skin, or clothing, immediately flush the affected area with clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention. Battery fluid is highly corrosive.

If battery fluid gets into your eyes or onto your skin, it may cause serious burns or loss of eyesight.

  • If the battery is labeled "do not open," it is maintenance-free and the battery fluid level should not be checked. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer or a qualified specialist workshop to confirm battery condition and performance.
  • Keep the battery surface clean and dry.

Clean the battery using a solution of baking soda and water, taking care to prevent the solution from entering the battery.

  • Make sure the battery terminal connections are clean, free of corrosion, and securely tightened.
  • If the Nissan Frontier will not be used for 30 days or longer, disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal cable to help prevent battery discharge.

NOTE:

Care should be taken to avoid situations that may cause battery discharge and possible no-start conditions, including:

1. Installing or using electronic accessories for extended periods while the engine is not running, such as phone chargers, GPS units, DVD players, dash cameras, or other devices that draw battery power.

2. Driving the Nissan Frontier infrequently, or using it mainly for very short trips that do not allow the battery to recharge properly.

In these situations, the battery may need to be charged periodically to maintain proper battery health and reliable starting performance.

The Nissan Frontier is equipped with a battery cover that helps protect the battery from engine heat and from damage during certain collision conditions.

When replacing the battery, the cover must always be reinstalled correctly.

WARNING
