Nissan Frontier: Do-it-yourself - Brake fluid

Nissan Frontier 2022-2026 Owner's Manual / Do-it-yourself / Brake fluid

Basic information

WARNING

  • Use only new brake fluid from a sealed container.

Old, low-quality, or contaminated fluid may damage the brake system.

Using improper brake fluid can damage brake components and reduce the Nissan Frontier stopping performance.

  • Clean the filler cap before removing it to help prevent dirt or moisture from entering the brake fluid reservoir.
  • Brake fluid is poisonous and must be stored carefully in clearly marked containers out of the reach of children.

CAUTION

Do not spill brake fluid on any painted surface.

Brake fluid can damage paint. If fluid is spilled, immediately wash the affected surface with clean water.

Nissan Frontier brake fluid reservoir MAX and MIN level markings

Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. If the level is below the MIN line B, or if the brake warning light illuminates, add Genuine NISSAN Super Heavy Duty Brake Fluid or an equivalent DOT 3 brake fluid up to the MAX line A.

If brake fluid must be added frequently, the brake system may have a leak or another concern. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for inspection and service.
