Nissan Frontier: Monitor, climate, audio, phone and voice recognition systems - Car phone or CB radio

Nissan Frontier 2022-2026 Owner's Manual / Monitor, climate, audio, phone and voice recognition systems / Car phone or CB radio

When installing a CB radio, amateur (ham) radio, mobile communication device, or vehicle phone system in your Nissan Frontier, follow all recommended installation procedures carefully.

Improper installation may interfere with the engine management system, vehicle electronics, communication systems, or other sensitive Nissan Frontier control modules.

WARNING

  • Cellular telephones should not be used while driving unless local laws specifically permit their use and full attention can still be devoted to vehicle operation.

Many jurisdictions restrict or prohibit handheld phone use while driving.

  • If a call must be made while the Nissan Frontier is moving, the use of a hands-free communication system is strongly recommended. Always remain focused on traffic conditions and vehicle operation.
  • If safe vehicle operation cannot be maintained while talking on the phone, pull off the roadway, stop in a safe location, and then make or receive the call.

CAUTION

  • Install communication antennas as far away as possible from electronic control modules and vehicle computers.
  • Keep antenna wiring at least 8 in (20 cm) away from Nissan Frontier electronic-control harnesses. Do not route antenna cables alongside vehicle wiring harnesses.
  • Adjust the antenna standing-wave ratio (SWR) according to the equipment manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Connect the CB radio chassis ground wire securely to the vehicle body ground point.
  • For additional installation guidance, it is recommended that you consult a NISSAN dealer or a qualified communication-equipment installer.
