1. Pull the hood release handle 1 located beneath the driver's side instrument panel of the Nissan Frontier. The hood will automatically release from its primary latch and raise slightly.
2. Move to the front of the vehicle and locate the secondary safety latch lever 2 beneath the front edge of the hood. Using your fingertips, push the lever to the side as illustrated and carefully raise the hood.
The secondary latch is designed as an additional safety feature to help prevent the hood from opening unintentionally while driving.
When closing the hood, lower it carefully until it is near the closed position and then allow it to latch securely. Verify that the hood is fully engaged before operating the Nissan Frontier.
WARNING
Driving with an improperly secured hood could allow it to open unexpectedly, obstruct the driver's view, and potentially cause an accident resulting in serious injury.
Regularly inspecting the hood latch and ensuring proper closure can help maintain the safety and reliability of your Nissan Frontier.
