Power moonroof

Basic Information

The power moonroof in the Nissan Frontier provides additional natural light, ventilation, and an enhanced driving experience for both the driver and passengers. The system operates only when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

The Nissan Frontier moonroof remains functional for approximately 45 seconds after the ignition switch is moved to the ACC or OFF position. This retained power feature allows convenient operation after the engine has been switched off. However, if either the driver's door or front passenger's door is opened during this period, power to the moonroof system is automatically canceled.

Sliding the moonroof

To open the moonroof, press the switch toward DOWN/OPEN 1 and release it.

Press the switch toward DOWN/OPEN again to continue opening the moonroof until it reaches the fully open position.

To completely close the Nissan Frontier moonroof, press the switch toward UP/CLOSE 2 and release it.

To stop the moonroof at any desired position between fully open and fully closed, press the switch in either direction while the glass panel is moving. This allows precise adjustment of airflow and cabin ventilation.

Tilting the moonroof

First close the moonroof by pressing the switch toward UP/CLOSE 2. After releasing the switch, press the UP/CLOSE switch again to raise the rear portion of the moonroof into the vent position.

The tilt feature allows fresh air to circulate through the Nissan Frontier cabin while minimizing wind turbulence.

To return the moonroof from the vent position, press the switch toward DOWN/OPEN 1. The rear section of the moonroof will lower back into the fully closed position.

Auto-reverse function (when closing or tilting down the moonroof)

Basic Information

The Nissan Frontier moonroof is equipped with an auto-reverse safety system designed to reduce the risk of injury or damage if an obstruction is detected while the moonroof is closing or tilting downward.

The auto-reverse feature operates when the ignition switch is in the ON position and for a limited period after the ignition switch has been turned OFF.

Depending on the environment or driving conditions, the auto-reverse function may activate if an impact, vibration, or load similar to an obstruction being caught in the moonroof is detected.

WARNING

There are small areas immediately before the fully closed position that may not be detected by the auto-reverse system. Always make sure all occupants keep their hands, fingers, arms, and other body parts inside the Nissan Frontier before operating the moonroof.

When closing

If the control system detects an object caught in the moonroof while it is moving forward toward the closed position, the glass panel will immediately reverse direction and move rearward.

This safety feature helps reduce the possibility of injury and protects the moonroof mechanism from damage.

When tilting down

If an obstruction is detected while the moonroof is lowering from the vent position, the control unit will automatically reverse the movement and raise the moonroof again.

If the auto-reverse function malfunctions and repeatedly causes the moonroof to reopen or tilt upward, continue pressing and holding the tilt-down switch within 5 seconds after the condition occurs. The moonroof will then gradually move to the fully closed position.

Before performing this procedure, carefully verify that no object, debris, or body part is trapped in the moonroof opening.

WARNING

• In the event of an accident, occupants may be ejected through an open moonroof. Always wear seat belts properly and ensure children are secured using appropriate child restraint systems.
• Never allow anyone to stand, sit, lean, or extend any part of their body through the moonroof opening while the Nissan Frontier is moving or while the moonroof is being operated.

CAUTION

• Remove water droplets, snow, ice, dirt, leaves, or sand from the moonroof area before opening the glass panel.
• Do not place heavy objects on the moonroof glass, roof opening, or surrounding trim components.

Sunshade

The interior sunshade can be opened or closed manually by sliding it forward or rearward as desired.

The sunshade helps reduce sunlight, glare, and heat entering the Nissan Frontier cabin while maintaining passenger comfort during bright weather conditions.

If the moonroof does not close

If the Nissan Frontier moonroof fails to close properly or operates abnormally, have the system inspected and repaired as soon as possible.

It is recommended that you visit an authorized NISSAN dealer for diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of the moonroof system.
