Nissan Frontier: Starting and driving - Parking brake
WARNING
- Always make sure the parking brake is fully released
before driving the Nissan Frontier. Driving with the parking brake engaged
can overheat the brake components, reduce braking performance, and lead to
an accident.
- Do not release the parking brake
from outside the vehicle. The driver should be properly seated and in control before releasing
it.
- Do not rely on the shift lever as a substitute for
the parking brake. When parking the Nissan Frontier, always make sure
the parking brake is fully
engaged.
- To help avoid injury or death
caused by unintended operation of the
vehicle or its systems, never
leave children, people who require
assistance, or pets unattended
in the vehicle. Also remember that
the temperature inside a closed vehicle
on a warm day can rise quickly and become
dangerous enough to create a serious
risk of injury or death for people
and animals.
To engage: Press the parking
brake pedal down firmly until it is securely applied.
To release:
1. Firmly apply the foot brake.
2. Move the shift lever to the P (Park)
position.
3. Press the parking brake pedal down firmly
again, and the pedal will release.
4. Before driving the Nissan Frontier, confirm that the brake warning
light has gone out.
