Nissan Frontier: Instruments and Controls - Tow mode switch

Tow Mode should be selected whenever the Nissan Frontier is pulling a heavy trailer or carrying a substantial payload. This feature modifies transmission and engine behavior to improve performance and control under increased load conditions.

Using Tow Mode when no trailer is attached or when only a light load is being carried will not damage the vehicle. However, fuel consumption may increase, and the transmission and engine response characteristics may feel different from normal driving conditions.

Press the Tow Mode switch to activate the feature. When Tow Mode is engaged, the TOW Mode ON indicator light illuminates, confirming that the system is active.

Press the Tow Mode switch again to deactivate the feature and return the Nissan Frontier to its normal driving calibration.

Tow Mode is automatically canceled whenever the ignition switch is moved to the OFF position.

When Tow Mode is enabled, the Rear Automatic Braking (RAB) system is automatically deactivated. This helps prevent unnecessary braking interventions that may occur while towing a trailer or carrying heavy cargo.

For optimal towing performance, always ensure that the trailer weight, cargo distribution, and towing equipment comply with Nissan Frontier specifications and recommendations.
