CAUTION

  • Do not ground aftermarket accessories directly to the battery terminal. Doing so may bypass the Nissan Frontier variable voltage control system and may prevent the battery from charging completely.
  • Use electrical accessories while the engine is running whenever possible to help avoid discharging the vehicle battery.

NOTE:

If the battery is completely discharged, the transmission may not be shifted manually into other positions.

Your Nissan Frontier is equipped with a variable voltage control system. This system monitors the amount of electrical discharge from the battery and controls the voltage output generated by the alternator to support efficient battery charging and electrical system operation.

The current sensor A is located near the battery along the negative battery cable. If electrical accessories are added to the Nissan Frontier, always connect their ground wires to a suitable body ground, such as the vehicle frame or engine block area, rather than directly to the battery terminal.

Correct accessory grounding helps preserve charging system accuracy, battery condition, and reliable operation of the Nissan Frontier electrical system.
