Nissan Frontier: Instruments and Controls - Wiper and Washer Switch

Nissan Frontier 2022-2026 Owner's Manual / Instruments and Controls / Wiper and Washer Switch

Switch Operation

Nissan Frontier windshield wiper and washer control switch

The Nissan Frontier windshield wiper and washer system operates whenever the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, providing drivers with effective visibility support during rain, snow, road spray, and other challenging weather conditions.

The multifunction wiper control lever allows the driver to select several operating modes depending on road and weather conditions.

Move the lever downward to activate the desired Nissan Frontier windshield wiper speed:

  1. Intermittent (INT) – Provides intermittent wiping operation. The delay interval can be customized by rotating the adjustment knob toward position A for slower wipe intervals or toward position B for faster wipe intervals.
  2. Low (LO) – Activates continuous low-speed wiping for light to moderate rainfall.
  3. High (HI) – Activates continuous high-speed wiping for heavy rain, snow, or situations requiring maximum windshield clearing performance.

Move the Nissan Frontier wiper lever upward to position 4 to activate the MIST function. This feature performs a single wipe cycle and is useful for quickly removing light moisture, road spray, or morning dew from the windshield.

Pull the control lever toward you to position 5 to operate the windshield washer system. Washer fluid is sprayed onto the windshield, and the Nissan Frontier wipers automatically perform several wipe cycles to help clear dirt, dust, insects, and other debris.

This integrated washer-and-wiper operation helps maintain clear forward visibility and enhances driving safety in changing road conditions.

WARNING

During freezing weather conditions, windshield washer fluid may freeze on the glass surface immediately after being sprayed, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a collision. Before using the washer system in freezing temperatures, warm the windshield using the Nissan Frontier defroster system to help prevent ice formation.

CAUTION

  • Do not operate the Nissan Frontier washer system continuously for more than 30 seconds at a time, as excessive operation may damage washer components or overheat the washer motor.
  • Never operate the washer system when the washer-fluid reservoir is empty. Running the system without fluid may damage the washer pump and reduce system reliability.

For optimal Nissan Frontier windshield cleaning performance, regularly inspect washer-fluid levels and use washer fluid appropriate for seasonal weather conditions.

Outside Mirror Defroster Switch

Nissan Frontier outside mirror defroster switch

The Nissan Frontier outside mirror defroster system helps remove frost, ice, fog, and condensation from the exterior mirrors, improving rearward visibility during cold-weather operation.

To activate the outside mirror defroster:

Start the Nissan Frontier engine and press the outside mirror defroster switch. When activated, the indicator light built into the switch illuminates to confirm system operation.

The heating elements integrated into the outside mirrors begin warming the mirror surfaces, helping clear accumulated moisture and ice.

Press the switch again if you wish to manually deactivate the mirror defroster before the automatic shutdown occurs.

For convenience and energy efficiency, the Nissan Frontier outside mirror defroster automatically turns off after approximately 15 minutes of operation.

This automatic timer helps prevent unnecessary electrical consumption while ensuring sufficient time to clear frost and condensation from the mirror surfaces.

The Nissan Frontier wiper, washer, and mirror defroster systems work together to improve visibility and driver confidence in a wide range of weather conditions, helping maintain safer driving performance throughout the year.
