Ford Focus Service Manual: Door Handle Reinforcement - Exterior, Rear
			
			
			Removal
 
NOTE: 
The door window glass must be completely raised. 
	- Remove the exterior rear door handle. For additional information, refer 
	to Exterior Rear Door Handle in this section. 
	- Unclip the door lock rod bell crank from the door. 
	- Remove the interior rear door handle cable from the retaining clip. 
	- Loosen the 2 screws, slide the door glass top run retainer up, and remove 
	the door glass top run retainer from the door. 
	- Disconnect the rear door latch actuator electrical connector. 
	- NOTE: The exterior rear door handle reinforcement screw does not 
	have to be removed. 
	 Loosen the exterior rear door handle reinforcement screw.  
	- Slide the exterior rear door handle reinforcement to the front of the vehicle 
	and remove from the door. 
	- Remove the 3 rear door latch screws. 
	- Remove the rear door latch and handle reinforcement assembly from the rear 
	door. 
	- Open the clip and disconnect the exterior rear door handle actuating rod.
	
	- Release the clips and remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement 
	from the carrier assembly. 
Installation
 
	- Connect the exterior rear door handle reinforcement to the carrier assembly 
	clips. 
	- Position the rear door latch and handle reinforcement assembly inside the 
	door. 
	- Loosely install all 3 rear door latch screws.
	
		- Once all 3 screws are installed, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). 
 
	- NOTE: Make sure the T-nut bottoms out when the exterior front 
	door handle reinforcement is slid rearward. Make sure the tabs are pushed through 
	the opening. 
	 Install the exterior door handle reinforcement on the door.  
		- Position the exterior front door handle reinforcement on the door and 
		slide it rearward. 
 
		- Push and hold the T-nut against the sheet metal cutout in the direction 
		of the arrow. 
 
		- Tighten the exterior door handle reinforcement screw while holding the 
		T-nut. 
 
	- Install the exterior rear door handle. For additional information, refer 
	to Exterior Rear Door Handle in this section. 
	- Connect the rear door latch actuator electrical connector. 
	- Install the door glass top run retainer onto the door and tighten the 2 
	screws. 
	- Position the interior rear door handle cable into the retaining clip.
	
	- Install the door lock rod bell crank onto the door. 
	- Adjust the exterior door handle. For additional information, refer to Door 
	Handle to Latch Rod Adjustment in this section. 
	- Reseal the watershield. 
	- Install the rear door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section  
	501-05.
