Ford Focus Service Manual: Front Door Latch

Removal

NOTE:

The door window glass must be completely raised.

1. Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section  501-05.

1. Position the watershield aside.

1. Disconnect the front door latch actuator electrical connector.

1. Open the clip and disconnect the exterior front door handle actuating rod.

1. Remove the interior front door handle cable from the retaining clip.

1. Remove the 3 front door latch screws.

1. With access through the front door latch opening, release the door latch from the carrier assembly.
   • Push up on the tab.
   • Slide the door latch off the carrier.

1. With access through the access panel opening, release the front door latch from the carrier assembly.

1. Detach the lock cylinder rod from the front door latch (if equipped).

1. Remove the front door latch from the front door.

Installation

1. Position the front door latch inside the door.

1. Connect the lock cylinder rod to the front door latch (if equipped).

1. Connect the front door latch to the 2 carrier assembly clips.

1. Loosely install all 3 front door latch screws.
   • Once all 3 screws are installed, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).

1. Position the interior front door handle cable into the retaining clip.

1. Connect the door front latch actuator electrical connector.

1. Adjust the exterior door handle. For additional information, refer to Door Handle to Latch Rod Adjustment in this section.

1. Reseal the watershield.

1. Install the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section  501-05.
