Removal
- Remove the RH halfshaft and intermediate shaft assembly. For additional
information, refer to Halfshaft — RH in this section.
- Position the intermediate shaft in a soft-jawed vise.
- NOTE:
Do not damage the boot.
Detach the RH front drive halfshaft from the intermediate shaft.
- Remove the large boot clamp and slide back the boot.
- Pull out the front drive halfshaft from the tripod housing.
Installation
- Install the required amount of grease in the CV joint housing.
- Position the tripod in the housing.
- Push the tripod to the bottom of the housing.
- Position the boot clamp on the boot.
- NOTICE: Use care not to damage the boot or component damage may occur.
Install the front halfshaft.
- Insert a small screwdriver under the boot seat to allow the air to escape.
- Slide the tripod joint in as far as possible, then pull it out 20 mm
(0.787 in).
- Install the boot clamp using the Constant Velocity Joint Boot Clamp Installer.
- Install the RH halfshaft and intermediate shaft assembly. For additional
information, refer to Halfshaft — RH in this section.
