Disassembly

  1. NOTICE: Take care not to damage the speed sensor wheel.

    Using the Front Wheel Hub Remover/Installer, Bearing Puller and Step Plate, remove the differential case bearings.


  1. Remove the speed sensor wheel.
  1. Remove the differential case bolts. Lightly tap the ring gear to separate it from the differential case.
  1. Clean all parts in clean solvent and blow dry with compressed air.
  1. Inspect the differential parts for damage or wear.

Assembly

  1. NOTE:

    New taper roller bearings can be installed without any treatment.

    Lubricate with transmission fluid during reassembly.

  1. Install the gear to the differential, then install the ring gear bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts in a star pattern to 88 Nm (65 lb-ft).
  1. Install the trigger wheel in the housing recess. Using the Differential Bearing Cup Installer with the Handle, install the differential bearing. Turn the differential over and install the other differential bearing.
