Removal
- Remove the inner CV joint boot. For additional information, refer to Inner
Constant Velocity (CV) Joint Boot in this section.
- NOTICE: Use a vise with protective jaw covers or damage to the shaft
may occur.
Remove the outer CV joint boot.
- Pull the boot inward over the front drive halfshaft.
Installation
- Pack the CV joint with the required amount of grease.
- NOTICE: Use care not to damage the boot or component damage may occur.
Install the outer CV joint boot.
- Slide the outer boot outward over the CV joint.
- Press the boot into the annular groove on the drive joint.
- Slide a small screwdriver under the boot seat to allow the air to escape.
- Locate the boot in position and remove the screwdriver.
- Install the outer boot clamps using the Constant Velocity Joint Boot Clamp
Installer.
- Install the inner CV joint boot. For additional information, refer to Inner
Constant Velocity (CV) Joint Boot in this section.
